TV Recap:Project Runway

Project Runway just keeps getting better and better. It's especially fantastic when they work in groups, bring on the drama!

Jack got to pick his model first because he is last week's winner, and he stole Ricky's model. Tough luck.

They were told to pick one image from a collection of photographs of outdated fashion. The pictures included neon, cut outs, pleather, overalls, fringe, a zoot suit, and many other incredibly out of style-styles.

Their challenge was interesting, they had to re-create the trend. Basically, bring it back to 2007, but in a cool, fashionable, trendy way of today.

Working in groups of three, the designers had one minute to choose who and what they thought would mesh well. They had to create three outfits and incorporate all three outdated trends that are cohesive and relevant for today.

Ricky, Victorya and Alisa got off to a rough start. Though Ricky was the team leader, Victorya was taking over that role. She wanted everything her way, and didn’t consult or ask any of the other team members about her decisions or visions.

Christian was obviously so excited about his group that he gave it the nickname of “Team Star.” Typical. You never know what is going to come out of his mouth next.

Jillian was the team leader of group, and she had consistent doubt in one of her team members Kevin because she didn’t think he was going to finish on time.

“I am ultimately responsible for what comes out of this. If Kevin doesn’t move like the speed of lightening we’re going to be in trouble,” she complained.

The designers had two days to complete the challenge, which was plenty of time compared to last week’s disaster of a challenge.

Tim announced that they’d be sending in the models early so the designers could see where they were in terms of fitting their outfits on the models. Victorya’s was totally off, and she decided to re-do her entire top. Without telling her other team members, of course. Ricky was not happy to say the least.

As time went on, the tension between Ricky and Victorya grew. She was too bossy, and according to Victorya, he wasn’t taking enough responsibility as the team leader. She didn’t consult or communicate with her team members, and he didn’t take charge. The bickering was endless.

Jillian was getting more and more nervous that Kevin wasn’t going to finish his garment, but in the end he more than proved her wrong, and she felt guilty for ever doubting him in the first place.

After the runway show, I think the judges and all the viewers knew who the winner was. The judges decided to do it differently this week because there was such a clear winner, so right after the show was over they announced that Jillian’s group won. All three outfits were just right on target, the overalls, the dress, everything.

Ricky and Chris, the marionette guy, were in the bottom two. Ricky definitely didn’t deserve to be there, but he was the team leader of the non-cohesive group.

In the end, Chris was asked to go home. His dress and overly shoulder padded jacket were like trying to mix oil and vinegar- they just didn’t fit. He never really did anything outstanding anyway. Not so sad to see him go.

Until next week!
