'Project Runway' Recap: Girl Power

It's the last challenge until Fashion Week and five designers are left—Gordana, Christopher, Althea, Irina and Carol Hannah. Oooh, I have the chills! Even better, there are four girls left.

The designers meet the mayor of Los Angeles, and they find out they have to use the Getty Center for inspiration for the two-day challenge. Their muses (models) take the Getty Center tour with them.

Althea decides on a textured look because she's inspired by architecture. Carol Hannah chooses European decorative art (a French bed with drapery and fringe). Irina goes with a special painting "that said everything that [Irina] wanted to say." Christopher chooses an organic fountain with algae growing on it. He thinks it'll really vocalize what he wants to do. Gordana is inspired by a Monet painting.

While at Mood, Irina goes with a "giant rabbit" fabric. Eek! Fur! I'm not really impressed with the fabrics the other contenders have purchased. (Kind of a weak season, I must say. There are no Christian Sirianos here, that's for sure.)

While in the workroom, you can tell who's bonding. Irina and Gordana have become friends for some reason. Carol Hannah and Christopher have also become buds. Althea, on the other hand—who Irina now considers "King Kong"—has no friends.

Gotta love Tim Gunn. When he saw Irina's working fur creation, he warns, "It's looking a lot like road kill." Gordana gets emotional about the Monet painting. "I'm a very spiritual person... the colors are really angelic," she says. And, Tim is impressed. Before leaving the workroom and sending in their models, he says he believes in every single one of them, so it's really anyone's game.

Althea's creation was a mini dress that might've been a little too ambitious. The judges noticed how she put too much work on the bottom, but not so much on the top. Carol Hannah's gown looks "town and country" as she describes it. It's well-made, but the judges didn't see her vision and Nina thinks she played it safe. Christopher creates what looks like a two-piece bridesmaids dress. The look is a little stiff. "Are you confident in this as your final challenge look?" Heidi asks him. And Christopher defends the garment with tears—he saw the beauty in a rock with algae on it. Gordana wrinkled gown was really gorgeous, but she plays it too safe, as well (Nina's words). Irina's droopy dress Nina says the length is "very old lady." Guest judge Cindy Crawford notices the shoes are a disconnect. Heidi suggests that she take off the other accessories—the look should've been simple.

And eek—then Heidi asks the unthinkable: "Which two designers should go with you?" (It's like picking teams in gym class all over again!) Gordana says Irina and Christopher. Althea says Irina and Carol Hannah. Carol Hannah says Christopher and Althea. Irina says Althea and Gordana. Christopher says Irina and Carol Hannah.

In the end, Christopher and Gordana had to leave.

Who's Going to New York Fashion Week: Carol Hannah, Irina and Althea. You go, girls!
