The competition gets stiffer—11 designers are left and Irina is immune from elimination. This episode has a lot in store: a film costume design challenge, romance and an upset! To start, the designers have five cinematic genres to choose from—action/ adventure, film noir, period piece, western and science fiction. Then, fun ensues.
Irina picks film noir, Logan picks action/adventure, Carol Hannah action/adventure, Ra'mon leaps for science fiction, Louise has film noir written all over her, Althea picks film noir, Gordana goes with period piece, Nicolas picks science fiction, Christopher jumps for period piece (because who wants western?), Shirin ends up with western and Epperson ends up with western.
The vibe in the workroom? Crushing, scandal (there might've been sabotage?!) and crankiness. Logan says that Carol Hannah is the only female he can connect with. (Saucy!) By the same token, she's distracted by his hotness (and so am I). Ra'mon who's a die-hard trekkie is excited for the challenge and has high hopes. Epperson's look came along masterfully. Louise's satin slip didn't excite Tim (or me). At some point, everyone grows really cranky in the workroom—the designers only had one day to work on their looks for crying out loud!
Designers were finishing up their looks during the final seconds—they were hustling! Unfortunately, Ra'mon's dress was a bit of a mess. Sigh—he's my favorite. It kind of reminded me of something Poison Ivy would wear in Batman—but not in a good way. The judges felt the same way. He actually made it in two hours—and it shows. His original piece was like "Kermit the Frog gone wrong" (Ra'mon's words, not mine). Such a shame!
I was so certain Louise's boring slip would've sent her home, but the judges auffed Ra'mon! I'm beside myself and so disappointed. At least he had a vision! Louise's lame dress didn't even have a story behind it. And if you ask me, she seemed to not put much effort in her look. Why, judges, why?! Didn't Ra'mon's great work from previous challenges count at all?
The Most Memorable Looks: Loved Epperson's western denim number (it was so fashion-forward), Christopher's vamp period piece was gorgeous, Nicolas' ice princess (which came with a really cool story) was interesting, Louise's snooze-fest of a dress had to go, Logan's leather Tomb-Raider-esque outfit was totally chic
Who Won: Nicolas (surprisingly)
Who Might Go Next Episode: Louise (she really should've gone this time around--not Ra'mon!)
