Seven seasons of Project Runway have produced some memorable fashions, but even more so, some memorable contestants. So it's only fitting (get it...fitting?!) that two of Runway's most quirky and talented designers -- finalists but not winners -- are getting their own series.
Austin Scarlett and Santino Rice were both finalists during their seasons (Scarlet lost to Jay McCarroll in season 1, and Rice in season 2, coming in third behind Daniel Vosovic and champ Chloe Dao). But the guys are now coming out on top, with a brand new series called On the Road with Austin & Santino.
According to a statement released by Lifetime, the show -- which debuts July 29 after the premiere of the 8th season of Project Runway -- will chronicle the pair as they "travel to and immerse themselves in the culture of small towns across America to create new, dream-come-true looks for special women in unique situations as they celebrate such life milestones as anniversaries, birthdays, balls, graduations and bachelorette parties."
Scarlett and Rice bringing their one-of-a-kind personalities and vision to everyday Americans? Count us in! The show will reportedly lift some elements from Project Runway, as it will feature clashing designers facing demanding clients, but with these two at the helm, it's bound to be its own fun ride.
No word yet on whether other Project Runway stars will make a cameo on the 14-episode series, but we'd love to hear Tim Gunn chime in with sage advice. At the very least, maybe Rice will break out his infamous, hilarious (and spot-on) Tim Gunn impression!
