Back in February, during Fashion Week at New York's Bryant Park, 10 Project Runway contestants sent their collections down the catwalk. Seven of the designers had already been eliminated from Lifetime’s cut-throat design competition, and were acting as decoys. Three were actual finalists, competing for the top spot and all its trappings ($100,000 to launch a line, a Marie Claire spread, 50 thousand dollars’ worth of Hp and Intel designing hardware, and a possible sales deal with Bluefly.com). Only the judges and producers knew which collections counted. Now—finally—we do, too.
Emilio’s. Mila’s. Seth Aaron’s.
Which of these names is most likely to end up scrawled inside the neckline of your next cocktail dress? OK, probably none of them. (Who has money for high-end fashion these days?) A better question: which of these talented couturiers will emerge as the Season 7 winner? We’ll find out on Thursday night at 10 p.m. ET—no doubt after a suspenseful night of near mishaps, frazzled nerves and meltdowns. We’ve already seen a few freak-outs in the promo, when Mila and Emilio both have models pull no-shows at the 11th hour.
Here's a quick guide to the final three designers:
Mila Hermanovski, 40, Los Angeles
She favors retro looks in black and white, and her designs are considered very “wearable” by regular people—not just fashion-forward model types.
Seth Aaron Henderson, 37, Vancouver
He’s got an inventive, pop-punk sensibility. Loves plaids, checkers, stripes—and most of all, zippers.
Emilio Sosa, 43, Dominican Republic
A self-assured designer who often clashes with Tim Gunn, he leans toward bold prints and colors and never misses a chance to take a risk.
