Puppy Dog Cupcakes Recipe

Really simple and quick to make especially if you use bought frosting. I made these on The View and must have received over 200 emails asking for the recipe.

  • Half cup soft butter
  • 2/3cup superfine sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla essence
  • 1 cup self-rising flour

Beat together the butter and sugar. Add the eggs one at a time, adding a spoonful of the flour and the vanilla with the second egg. Beat in the remaining flour.

Line a bun tin with paper cases and half fill each case with the mixture.

Bake in an oven pre-heated to 180C/350F (FAN 160C) for 18 to 20 minutes until well risen and the cakes spring back when you press them with your fingertips.

  • 2 and a half cups powdered sugar
  • 1 stick butter softened
  • 1 tbsp water
  • Chocolate buttons
  • M&Ms
  • Milano cookies
  • Black Writing Icing

Sift the powdered sugar into a bowl. Beat the butter until creamy gradually adding the sugar until smooth and finally beat in the water. Alternatively you can buy a tub of ready prepared frosting. Spread the frosting over the cupcakes, then stick the cookies on for ears. Add the chocolate button for an eye and the M&M's for another eye and nose. Draw pupils on the eyes and make a mouth using the black Writing Icing.
