Puree the Pumpkin

In a slow cooker:
Puree the soft fruit using an immersion/stick blender or by transferring to a carafe blender (be careful when pureeing hot liquids in a blender, and make sure to leave the center cap of the blender lid slightly open to let steam escape). Return the puree to the slow cooker, cover and cook on high for 2 hours until the butter is thick, dark and no longer watery.

In the oven or on the stovetop:
Puree the soft fruit using an immersion/stick blender or by transferring to a carafe blender (be careful when pureeing hot liquids in a blender, and make sure to leave the center cap of the blender lid slightly open to let steam escape). Return the puree to the pot and either bring to a simmer on the stovetop or return to the oven. Cook for 30-45 minutes more, stirring frequently, until the butter is thick, dark and no longer watery.
