How far would you go to turn your life around? Salesman Chris Gardner (played by Will Smith, who got a best actor Oscar nomination for the role) lost his life savings on a bad investment, causing his marriage and career to fall apart. Becoming a struggling single dad, he dreamed big -- really big -- and applied for a competitive internship at a huge Wall Street brokerage. While his meager intern stipend left Gardner penniless and homeless for six months, he still managed to find food and shelter for his young son (portrayed by Smith's son Jaden in the film) -- and emerged with the six-figure job of his dreams. The real Gardner is now a multimillionaire with his own brokerage firm.
