We hope Queen Elizabeth adores Kate Middleton as much as we do, because while the Queen is getting ready for her Diamond Jubilee, a series of events in England that began over the weekend, marking her 60 years on the throne (60 years!!!), all eyes will likely be on her granddaughter-in-law, Princess Kate, now the most talked about royal in the world.
How lucky were we to have a chance to interview someone who has met the Queen, and who we believe has also met Princess Kate and Prince William: Cherie Blair, the wife of the former British Prime Minister and founder of the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women.
We had to ask what’s Kate like (“I think she is doing a terrific job”), what she has meant to the image of the royals in England (“It’s nice to see a new generation coming up”) and whether Pippa’s problem (she was seen with a man who appeared to pull out a gun and point it at a photographer) would damage her reputation at home (“What I can say is that being in the public eye myself, I know it’s quite difficult for anyone to manage.”)
No, we didn’t forget to ask about the royal baby watch, with Prince William recently telling ABC’s Katie Couric that he was “eager” to have a family and that he and Princess Kate were both looking forward to having children in the future. So, Cherie Blair, are the English speculating about the royal baby-to-be as much as we are? “You don’t want to put pressure on anyone,” said the mother of four. “These things will come in time.”
Indeed they will!
