As a potential future queen, Prince William's fiancee Kate Middleton doesn't have a lot of people to turn to for career advice. Luckily, there's one other queen that's got her back: the queen of America. No, not Oprah -- we're talking about Queen Latifah!
Latifah, 40, may be self-styled royalty, but she knows what it's like to live in the public eye. The singer/actress/entrepreneur offered Middleton some sanity-saving tips in the latest issue of Parade.
"Make sure you have a sanctuary, because everybody in the world is going to be in your business," advised Latifah. "He happened to be born a prince; you happened to go to college and meet him. You're two kids who fell in love. I just hope you have a happy life. And don't take anything personally."
Wise words from a wise lady. That should definitely get her an invite to Buckingham Palace, right?
While Middleton, 28, is preparing for her lavish royal wedding, Queen Latifah is enjoying the comforts of her own home... in New Jersey.
"There's something about growing up in New Jersey that prepares you for whatever you might encounter around the world," says Latifah, who was born in Newark and now lives in Colts Neck. "We're not afraid to go places. I met Mike 'The Situation' [from Jersey Shore] because we were both on Jay Leno. He lives maybe 15 minutes from me. He was like, 'If you ever get a flat tire, call me and I'll hook you up.' I love Jersey."
