This season of the Rachel Zoe Project (Bravo, Tuesday, 10 p.m. EST) is going to be "major." The dresses are going to be "everything." The celebrities she'll style are…well, let's just say "I died."
"It's the most real it's been yet," the 39-year-old stylist to the stars explains in the show's promo clip. "It's really very organic this season." Hold onto your couture hats, fans of seasons 1 and 2! Those fluffy seasons were a bunch of contrived drama!
Zoe and friends will express their disappointment over the exit of former friend and coworker, Taylor Jacobson, who has fallen from their graces by…well, the promo implies that she's been stealing from the company. "We've been getting behind the numbers, looking at the books, there are a lot of things that I've been doing since I got here, and frankly it doesn't add up," says Zoe's husband (and president of Rachel Zoe, Inc.), Rodger Berman. "And that's all I'm gonna say about it."
That's a serious accusation to level on national TV, so for Zoe's sake, I hope they haven't entered libel territory. On the other hand, Jacobson hasn't outright denied the accusations, either.
"For legal reasons, I'm not really allowed to discuss it, which makes it hard for me to give 'the juice,'" Jacobson told TV Guide. "There's obviously horrible s--- being said about me in the media. It's no secret that certain people who shall not be named are trying to blacklist me and get me kicked off jobs and talk s--- to some of my clients. There has been a lot of cattiness from certain people. I don't go into it. People who work with me and know me know I'm not about this bulls---. I'm about the job."
As for the rest of the season, look for ever-more-famous celebrity clients (Demi Moore, Johnny Weir, Gwen Stefani), baby issues (Rodger wants one, Rachel seemingly doesn't), and professional crises ("If this show doesn’t go well, it's gonna turn into a fashion suicide!").
Zoe's charm is in her ability to poke fun at herself. Her job is ultimately shallow and silly, but her playful attitude suggests that at least she doesn't consider herself on par with a rocket scientist, or cancer researcher. Beautiful clothes and goofy style catchphrases are her game, and she adores playing it.
