When I heard Rachel Zoe gave birth this week, the first thing I wanted to know was what she wore for the delivery. (What? She’s a celebrity stylist. I was curious.) Instead, everyone seems too obsessed with the kid’s name (shocker!) to even throw me a bone.
In case you don't already know, it’s Skyler. And he’s a boy. As always, the debaters are going crazy. I love the name! I hate the name! Love that it’s normal! You think that’s normal? It’s a girl’s name, you fool! No, it’s an East-coast-old-money name, only misspelled! And my personal favorite: I love that you think it’s normal!
Personally, I have a thing for gender-neutral names. I had Sam and Hunter on my girl list both times (and both times my husband emphatically rejected them, not that I’m bitter). I think Sklyer is a little more girly than neutral, but I do have to agree with the “at least it’s normal" crowd. Remember, this is Hollywood, where rules regarding “normalcy” do not apply. I don’t know about you, but neither of my daughters has a Spec Wildhorse (John Cougar Mellencamp's son) or Pilot Inspektor (Jason Lee's son) in her class.
