The star shows off her poetry-writing skills with a silly birthday ode to husband Joel Madden’s brother Josh

Sure, Nicole Richie has tons of money -- but sometimes the best gifts are free!

Instead of buying a fancy watch or a car for her brother-in-law Josh Madden, the fashionista channeled her inner poet and created a homemade gift for his birthday: an original poem she tweeted  on Aug. 23.

"For you @JoshMadden on your birthday," Richie wrote. "A Monumental Poem by Nicole Richingway." She then linked to her personal website, where she'd posted the birthday poem:

Happy Birthday to my brother Josh
Today you won’t be eating squash
Birthday cake is whats for you!
Dont eat a candle or it will come out in your poo!
Even though you’re a year older
You wont be any colder
Because you have lots of sweaters and socks
You are as beautiful as Courteney Cox

Clearly Josh, who's the older brother of Richie's husband Joel Madden, appreciated the heartfelt (and silly!) gift. He promptly retweeted the link, adding "NO WORDS CAN DESCRIBE." We second his sentiments!
