The Real Housewives of Miami season two finale was surprisingly light on conflict. But what it lacked in contention, it more than made up for with humor and even some touching moments of reconciliation. Not your typical Real Housewives wrap-up, but satisfying just the same. See that, ladies of Real Housewives of New Jersey and New York? You don't have to flip tables or spread stripper rumors to satisfy your audience!
In fact, the last episode of RHOM opened with a healing ceremony, which involved tossing flowers into Bimini Bay and letting go of negativity. Marysol Patton initiated the proceedings, based on an idea originated by her loopy, new-age mother, Elsa. (Even when she's not present, Elsa manages to run the show!)
With the exception of Karent Sierra, who was caring for her ailing father, all the ladies gathered at the cold water's edge. One by one, they each discussed their emotional struggles, cried, and threw their flowers. "This whole ritual that seemed silly and ridiculous at first…was more symbolic for me than I realized," said Ana Quincoces in her spliced in, on-camera interview.
Lea Black was the last to participate. "I think we all deserve to live happily ever after," she said. "So here's to all the negativity for everybody, and everybody living happily ever after!" The comment set the tone for the rest of the episode.
Joanna Krupa returned to her rose-petal-strewn home, where fiance Romain Zago was waiting to re-propose, and finally set a wedding date. He begged for forgiveness (she'd caught him in the early stages of an affair) and gave her a diamond necklace. "I just want to spend the rest of my life with you," he said. "You’re the only person that makes me happy, and I just want to make you happy." Of course, at Bimini Bay, she'd already declared her decision to stick with him. "I forgive you," she said. "Just don’t ever do that again. If you have a problem with me, just tell me."
Adriana De Moura and her new fiancee Fredric delivered the news of their engagement to her 12-year-old son Alex. The marriage will happen in the spring, and the three will then move into Fredric's boat and…sail into the sunset. That's the plan, anyway.
Lisa Hochstein returned to be with her housekeeper, Daysy, during the slimming plastic surgery procedures that her husband, Dr. Lenny Hochstein, was performing on her. Lisa provided comic relief in the operating room, talking nonstop as her husband sawed into Daysy's abdomen and sucked out the fat. In her interview, a still-masked Lisa told the camera that she was turned on by watching Lenny operate, and for some reason, this comment led her to simulate giving him a hand job. More comedy ensued when she checked on the woozy Daysy, who howled like a dog under the influence of pain medication.
Meanwhile, two Housewives went about ending their marriages. Public relations maven Marysol had a final discussion with her French businessman husband, Philippe Pautesta-Herder. He seemed blasé about finalizing their split, while she wiped away tears.
A very similar scene was unfolding at Ana's house, where she and husband Robert were signing divorce papers. He laughed and joked as they took care of the final paperwork, while Ana cried. In her spliced-in interview, she explained that Robert was making light of the situation to make it easier on her. Is she in denial? He sure did look happy to be a bachelor again.
Interestingly, the one Housewife who wasn't at the healing ceremony is the one who remained mired in drama. Photos had surfaced of her telenovela star boyfriend, Rodolfo Jimenez kissing another woman. Rodolfo claims it's for publicity; the other Housewives have cried foul. In the final scene, as the ladies gathered for Marysol's party (celebrating the 10th anniversary of her PR company), Karent was still standing by her man.
But just before the closing credits, when producers gave updates on the women's lives since filming, we learned that "Karent finally took the advice of her friends and broke up with Rodolfo."
And more surprisingly, after all those rose petals and diamonds: "Joanna and Romain are on a break." Of course, those who follow the Housewives were already ahead of that information. According to E! the couple has since reconciled.
Whew! It's hard to keep up with these women and their relationships! Luckily, we can tune in for next week's reunion show to get us all caught up!
Of course, the drama among these women will be continued -- the two-part reunion starts next week (Dec. 27 at 9 p.m. on Bravo). Here's a taste of what's to come!
