Bravo hasn't made any official announcements, but fans of The Real Housewives franchise are already getting wind of the upcoming, seventh installment -- in Miami. Footage for The Real Housewives of Miami was shot months ago, for a different, stand-alone show called Miami Social Club. But last fall, Bravo decided to package it as part of TRH series. Now it's tentatively slated to appear in the first half of 2011.
What will the show look like in the Sunshine State? Probably not much different than its predecessors: Toned, well-heeled women of a certain age will socialize in skimpy clothes (which they will wear well -- but still probably shouldn't.) In Miami, though, their suntans will ostensibly be from the actual sun. And if Bravo sticks to the formula that ensures the series' high ratings, they will work through their insecurity issues through bullying, lying and accusing each other of being insane.
The most attention-grabbing addition to the cast is the night club entertainer, Elaine Lancaster -- a drag queen whose male name is James Davis. Lancaster's got a high-energy existence; she's a ravishing, Lana Turner-esque female impersonator who's notorious among the city's gay clubs. She has attracted celebrity pals like Dennis Rodman. But can Lancaster get along with the Housewives? Bravo execs are probably betting against it.
As fans will probably witness tonight, during the first part of the reunion show for The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, this show is best when the women are screaming at each other. Click here for a sneak peek.
