Why the Girls Play Two Sports
"The only thing I tell them is that I push them to make sure that they do a team sport and an individual sport. One of the things I didn't do was play team sports. And I think team sports are important particularly for girls, where they learn the camaraderie of being dependent on other people for the victory. And learning how to compete, and lose… I think my girls need to learn how to compete. Whether they choose to do it long term, I just think it's an important opportunity for girls to have. And then an individual sport because that's the thing that they usually hone in on. I mean, then you can sort of build a skill." -- First Lady Michelle Obama
