A Symbol of Love
My first boyfriend and I were young, idealistic and romantic so when we went on a nature hike and saw two trees that had grown together, we said they were just like us. Separate people connected in one special place -- our hearts. Soon after my boyfriend planted two baby trees side by side in his yard, and he placed a wooden heart in the center. He told me that the trees would be a permanent symbol of our love. Even though we are no longer together, I will always remember this romantic symbol of the love we once shared.

Now He Doesn't Seem So Far Away
Shortly after college graduation, I got a great job offer that required me to move within a week. It was so hectic. My boyfriend and I tried to make time for a romantic hike to say our good-byes, but there was no time. About a month after I moved away, when I really started to miss him, I got a present in the mail. He'd put together a scrapbook labeled "Wanna Go for a Walk?" Inside, there were photos of the trail we were going to walk together. He'd gone by himself to take them and record his thoughts too. There were notes at the bottom of each photo about how much he missed me, and memories of our special times. Even though distance still keeps us apart, I can take that photo album out and "go for a walk" with him anytime.
