REBECCA AND KEN ENNIS
WEDDING DATE: JUNE 19, 1999
SONOMA COUNTY, CA.
Seventy of their closest friends and family members helped them celebrate their special day. After seven years together, Rebecca and Ken were ready to wed -- and Ken chose the site before they were even engaged. Here's what happened...
Rebecca's best friend (and eventual maid of honor) Stephanie was visiting from Texas. The trio headed to Sonoma County to go wine tasting and got lost. "We were looking for a particular winery but didn't have any idea how to get there," Rebecca said. Frustrated and ready to taste some wine, Ken made the call.
Rebecca and Ken looked out over the vineyards stretching out toward the Sonoma Mountain Range, and fell in love with the site.
Stopping the car, he said, "We are going to stop right here!" As he drove up the gravel road leading to the BR Cohen Winery, Rebecca and Stephanie worried about his decision. Neither was convinced this was a "good" winery to try. "Boy, were we surprised!" Rebecca said. The spot was beautiful and the wine was delicious.
Rebecca and Ken were already taken with the winery when, in the tasting room, they noticed a large photograph of a wedding on the winery grounds. But that didn't prepare Rebecca for what Ken did when they got their first glimpse of the vineyards. Leaving the tasting room, which is set atop a hill, Rebecca, Ken and Stephanie looked out at the vineyards stretching out toward the Sonoma mountain range, and they all fell in love with the site. Suddenly, Ken said, "I want to get married here." They weren't even engaged yet. Naturally, Rebecca was shocked. Although Ken had been planning to propose soon, she had no idea he was thinking so seriously about marriage. "I knew that we would get married someday, but after so many years together, I wasn't in a hurry," she said. "I knew it would happen at the right time." Ken proposed just a few months later.
