She's Alive! Reba McEntire Dispels Internet Death Hoax

News spread across Twitter on Tuesday that the country singer had fallen off a mountain, but she quickly shot down the rumor

Reba McEntire is the latest celebrity to fall victim to an internet death hoax. The country star was reported dead by the fake news site Global Associated News, which claimed McEntire, 56, had died during a movie shoot in Austria after falling off a mountain.

News began to spread across the internet Tuesday morning about McEntire's supposed death, but soon even casual Twitter fans began to spot something off in the story -- like the fact McEntire was referred to as an actress instead of a country-music singer, or that there was actually a disclaimer on the site explaining that the article was a joke.

"This story is 100% fake! This is an entertainment website, and this is a totally fake article based on zero truth and is a complete work of fiction for entertainment purposes" the disclaimer read.

McEntire took to her Twitter page to put an end to the speculation about her dramatic death.

"There is a rumor going around that I died after falling off a mountain in Austria yesterday while shooting a movie," she wrote. "While I would love to be shooting a movie in Austria, I definitely did not fall off a mountain! Nor am I dead! I am alive and kicking!!!"
