The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada yesterday announced a recall of 26,000 IKEA Sniglar cribs. No child has been injured or died because of the cribs, but the mattress support could come apart, which could entrap and suffocate your baby.
The affected cribs (model number is 60091931) were sold from October 2005 through June 2010 at IKEA stores in North America. If you have one, check if the mattress support bolts extend through the nut. If they do, that means the bolts are the right length and that your crib isn't part of the recall. If they don’t, contact IKEA at (888) 966-4532 or via www.ikea-usa.com for a free repair kit. In the meantime, find an alternate place for your baby to sleep until the crib is fixed.
And in case you haven’t heard, more than 7 million drop-side cribs of all kinds have also been recalled.
