Recall Alert: Toxic Tween Jewelry Pulled from Shelves

Yesterday the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Tween Brands Inc. announced a voluntary recall of kids’ metal bracelets, earrings and necklaces because the trinkets contain high levels of cadmium, a metal that can be toxic if ingested.

A total of 19 different items are involved in the recall. All were sold at Justice, Limited Too stores, and online at, between November 2008 and February 2010.

To find out if your child’s jewelry is part of the recall, check the style number on the jewelry’s packaging -- if you still have it -- and compare it to those listed on the CPSC’s information page or call the CPSC’s recall hotline at 800-638-2772. You can also contact Tween Brands at 800-934-4497 or visit for more information. Jewelry that’s part of the recall can be returned to Justice or Limited Too stores for a full refund.
