This deliciously tart-sweet pie -- created originally by the Shakers, a religious sect -- is unusual because it is made with two whole lemons, sliced paper thin. A hefty dose of sugar balances out the tartness of the fruit, and the peel of the lemon adds a pleasant texture to the pie.
