- Scrapbook paper in red and blue
- hot glue
- double stick tape
- paper stars
- push pins
Cut paper in half and fold to make a fan. Fold fan in half and stick together with double stick tape (this forms your bunting pieces) To make additional sizes, cut paper in half again. Cut ribbon to equal length of table. Glue bunting to length of ribbon with hot glue gun. Tack ribbon to underside edge of table so bunting decorates the entire underside. Glue paper stars to the center of bunting.
RED, WHITE AND BLUE
- Paper plates
- royal icing in red, white or blue
- icing tips... 1 star, 1 small round
- 1 bag confectioners' sugar
- 4 T. meringue powder
- warm water
Put confectioners' sugar and meringue powder in mixing bowl. Start beater and mix slowly for a few seconds. With mixer running, add 3 to 4 T warm water. Continue mixing and adding water a little at a time until you get the consistency you want. Divide and color!
NOTE: Remember that royal icing only takes a long time to dry after you put it on a cookie. Until then, it turns to concrete in seconds. Keep your containers covered until you are ready to use it. Fill pastry bag with colored icing and place a dot and/or star on the edge of the plate to complete an overall design... let dry thoroughly (2-3 hours). Use to serve cake, chiffon pies, or ice cream.
- Glass Jar (we used a French canning jar from a cooking store)
- Candy in red, white and blue (we used red Boston baked beans, white Dutch mints and chocolate balls wrapped in blue foil)
- Unscented votive in glass container
Place glass votive in bottom of jar. Gingerly place candy around the outside. Light and enjoy as a centerpiece or occasional candle on a side table or porch railing.
- Glass plates
- Scrapbook paper
Glass dinner plates can have a simple and special theme. Cut scrapbook paper in a circle (use the base of the plate as a template) and slip under the plate (use double stick tape to keep it in place).
- Red and blue paper napkins
- White stamping ink
- Star stamp
Place napkins on a clean and flat surface. Stamp star stamp on ink and press onto napkin. Create an overall pattern or simply stamp the edges to create a border. Let dry thoroughly (30 minutes). Use for all occasions.
