Philbin, 80, was greeted by fans and his former Live with Regis and Kathie Lee cohost at the doors to 30 Rockefeller Center, and immediately started off the morning lightheartedly. "Who's Kathie Lee?" he joked as she handed him a cup of coffee. Watch their reunion below!
The duo then walked up to the Today studio, but not before Philbin reminisced about his own history in the NBC building.
"Look at this place! Fifty years ago I was a page right here," he said, pointing at the desk in the lobby of 30 Rock.
Finally, the two were greeted by Today anchor Matt Lauer for an interview before their hosting duties commenced. It's clear that Philbin and Gifford, 58, still have the same chemistry they had when they hosted together back in the '80s and '90s, even though they couldn't stop joking about how Philbin doesn't want a cohost now.
"If it ever happens again, it will be Regis and Nobody Else," he said of the chances of him hosting a morning show again.
Gifford quipped, "He liked it when I left, he had it all to himself."
The duo spent much of the interview discussing how they never rehearsed during all their years together, and that Philbin doesn't even like holding meetings.
The same can be said for their cohosting gig today, where Philbin stepped in for Gifford's usual Today partner Hota Kotb.
"I always thought if I could find someone who could ad-lib with me, that's what I wanted to do," Philbin reminisced about working with Gifford. "I mean, look, I had in my mind where I was the night before, what I was going to tell her, of course, but I didn't tell her before the show began and she didn't tell me either. We did it right then and there."
Philbin and Gifford, who hosted Live together for 15 years, reunited on the fourth hour of Today this morning, and walked out to their old theme song. "It's Winesday Wednesday, June 20," Gifford told their studio audience.
"It's always Winesday around here!" Philbin joked back.
Goodness, but it was nice to have these two together again. When asked if he ever misses hosting television (he left Live to Kelly Ripa last year), Regis answered, "Certain days, certain nights."
