This Is What Designers in 1939 Thought We'd Be Wearing Today

What did our grandparents think we'd be rocking in the 2000s? Check out this retro video

Talk about heading back to the future. In 1939, American fashion designers were asked to dream up outfits that they imagined women would be wearing more than a half-century down the road—and this video from the British Pathe archive spotted by Mental Floss captures the stunning results.

What's particularly impressive is how spot-on some of the designers' style predictions ended up being—mesh tops and pocket sized phones! As well as how off they were on other innovations—sadly, we still don't have climate controlled clothing.
