Wow! Big changes afoot on The Real Housewives of Miami! (Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo). The season 2 premiere introduced four new ladies: Lisa Hochstein, Joanna Krupa, Ana Quincoces and Karent Sierra. Already they appear to be irritating the three original cast members: Lea Black, Alexia Echevarria, Adriana de Moura and Marysol Patton.
Among the newbies, Joanna stands out. She is already somewhat famous as a supermodel (who's graced the covers of Maxim, Shape, FHM and Playboy) and as a Dancing with the Stars contestant (she was paired with Derek Hough during season 9). Her involvement in the show allows viewers entry into the life of a top-tier model, and her hunky, probably-cheating boyfriend, Romain, certainly spices up the proceedings (especially when he fights with her live-in sister, Marta, also a model).
But from the start, it's clear that this show continues to belong to Marysol and her mother, Elsa. (New to RHOM? You must meet Elsa, a psychic whose face is disturbingly disfigured from a plastic surgery-related accident, and who drifts through life in what appears to be a drug haze, dispensing psychic readings and riling up Marysol and her friends.) Here's a little taste of Elsa -- take a look at this web-exclusive Bravo video:
On this show about money and yachts and Botox, Elsa is the freakish comic relief. In the season 2 premiere, she's utterly distraught about losing her Yorkie, Napoleon, but after Marysol canvases the neighborhood with Lost Dog posters, Elsa finds him in the closet. (She claims he ate her Xanax and passed out in there.) Later, she attends a party with the Housewives and upstages them by fainting, thereby getting to make a dramatic departure in an ambulance.
Next to Elsa, it's tough to appear interesting. But the Housewives give it their best shot. Two of them, lawyer Ana and celebrity dentist Karent, are already fighting over a man (the sexily named, Spanish soap star, Rodolfo). Lisa, whose husband is plastic surgeon Lenny Hochstein, says she lives in a house built on breast implants. (Her own, impeccable hourglass is a walking advertisement for his work.) Lea instantly hates her, and is unhappy to learn that they are neighbors. Lisa is none too pleased, either -- after the chilly reception Lea gives her.
