Sunday night, fans of The Real Housewives of New Jersey were treated to Part 2 of the season 4 reunion, a.k.a. the "We Hate Teresa Giudice" show. In the previous episode, her sister-in-law Melissa Gorga objected to Teresa's televised accusation that Melissa was a former stripper. Then her friend Jacqueline Laurita accused Teresa of setting Melissa up. And Caroline Manzo nodded along with these dissenters.
In Part 2, Giudice's cousin, Kathy Wakile, takes aim. Her beef with Teresa? She meddled in Kathy's strained relationship with her lesbian sister, Rosie. Apparently, the sisters have reconciled and are united in their enmity for Teresa. Cue Rosie's entrance. She is yet another foe for Teresa to deal with on the couch, and judging by Rosie's offstage remarks before she appears -- she was miked and waiting to join the group -- she is a highly unstable sort of angry. Thankfully, her threats to do Teresa bodily harm do not come to fruition. There's just more shouting and name calling.
Teresa does have one ally left, albeit a shady one, in her husband Joe. He joins her on the couch, where he requests (and then chugs) a Red Bull. Host Andy Cohen jumps right in, playing a clip from the show when Teresa caught Joe seemingly talking to a girlfriend on the phone. ("Hey whataya doin?" Joe coos into his cell. "Hold on, here she comes, my bitch wife. She's such a *&%^%.")
"Who were you talking to?" asks Cohen.
"Uh, Albie," Joe replies, after a pause. "A longtime friend of mine. I was taking care of things back home." Neither Cohen nor the assorted ladies appear to believe him, and Cohen pushes on, insisting that fans thought the phone call was less innocent.
"If I was talking to a girlfriend, I would have taken my mike off and thrown it in the bushes," says Joe. "I basically shouldn't have said what I said to her…I messed up, but what are ya gonna do?"
The camera darts from lady to lady, showing one disgusted expression after the other. No one's buying Joe's explanation, except Teresa, who smiles, holds her head high and nods along. It would be a sad moment, if Joe's conversational style weren't quite so reminiscent of a real-life Tony Soprano. How can you take this guy seriously?
"By the way, thanks for showing that episode," he mutters. "That stupid word cost me a lot of money." He goes on to explain that he had to make up for the hurtful remark by buying his wife "earrings, a ring and a couple other things."
Cohen's not ready to drop the subject, so he brings Jacqueline into the conversation. She alleges that Teresa has already admitted that her husband is a cheater, and that his conquests include a babysitter, a secretary and possibly a stripper.
"You should really know the facts before you talk," replies Joe. "You definitely have serious issues. You need to get your head checked."
Cohen, interestingly, presses on. (Does he not recognize Joe's similarities to TV's most famous and violent mob boss?) "So, flat out, Joe," he says. "Have you cheated on Teresa ever?"
"No," says Joe. "Never. Let's move to another subject now."
Believe it or not, the promo for next week's final reunion episode suggests that the temperature in the room is about to rise even higher. Producers will inject several more shots of testosterone, as all the men pull up chairs and join the fun.
"Melissa, how did you really meet Joe Gorga?" Joe Giudice says at one point, implying that the introduction took place at a strip club. Oh, no he didn't! Watch some of the fireworks here:
How will this season conclude? The final installment airs next Sunday at 10 p.m. ET, on Bravo!
