We're used to hearing Rihanna sing about her "Rude Boy", but soon we'll be hearing her cry, "You sunk my battleship!" According to Variety, the 22-year-old singer is set to make her film debut in the big screen adaptation of the beloved childhood game Battleship.
Rihanna will be directed by Peter Berg and is starring alongside Alexander Skarsgard (True Blood) and Taylor Kitsch (Friday Night Lights), who play -- very handsome! -- brothers.
The plot of the movie, as Variety describes it, "takes place across the seas, over the skies and land in a battle for planet survival against a superior force." Hmm, sounds a little different from the Hasboro classic which featured colored pegs and tiny plastic ships.
No word yet on what Rihanna's role in the movie will be, but here's hoping she makes a contribution to the soundtrack! Universal is planning on having Battleship sail in to theaters on May 23, 2012.
