Rise to the Occasion

Last year I bought this bunny cake pan at Williams-Sonoma and tried, unsuccessfully, to make this Easter themed cake. I know I’m no Betty Crocker but I figured this wouldn’t be so difficult - pour in the batter, bake, cool, use frosting to glue the 2 sides together, and voila…an impressive looking dessert.

My first problem was the batter and baking issue. I didn’t leave enough, more like any, room for the batter to rise, so each half of my bunny looked like it had a goiter. I frosted both halves, instead of one, so when put together my bunny looked like something you’d see in a fun house mirror.

The point is, this is a fun looking cake and if you have more skills in the kitchen than I do, you’ll impress your family and friends Easter Sunday with a festive cake for dessert.
