Americans are expected to take an estimated 330 million trips this summer, a record high according to the Travel Industry Association. 8 out of these 10 trips will be road trips.

While road trips are a great time for rest, relaxation and family bonding, they're also a time for testing out Murphy's Law. From bee stings and sunburns to dirty motels and car sickness, we've taken into consideration all the possible bumps in the road. With the help of Dr. Tanya Benenson, an internist in New York City, we came up with an on-the-road essentials guide.

If you're traveling in the U.S., you most likely will have access to medical attention within a reasonable time period. The following are things that you can bring in the car that will make the trip less stressful and keep you in control if minor mishaps occur that don't require medical attention.

Make sure to read directions carefully, not all medications are intended for kids or people with certain medical problems.
