Back when you were a kid, road trips meant sing-alongs and games of "I Spy." These days, it's all too easy for your kids to zone out with an iPhone (Angry Birds, anyone?) a Nintendo DS or the SUV's built-in DVD player. But you can put "family" back in the family vacation with these fun for everyone, on-the-road activities.

Doodle Away
Kids love coloring where they're not supposed to, so they'll love parent-approved doodling on the car windows… with washable markers, of course!

Best for Kids Ages: 3 and up

What You'll Need: Washable window markers (Crayola, $6); glass cleaning wipes

Directions: From drawing landscapes to doodling a family portrait to playing Hangman, there are endless creative possibilities with washable markers. When they need a fresh canvas, hand them some wipes and -- voila -- a clean slate.
