Rob Kardashian may have underestimated the power of Twitter. This week, the reality star went into attack mode on the microblogging site, hurling insults that appeared to be directed at ex-girlfriend Rita Ora. With the phrase #RitaWhora trending, Kardashian has now erased the tweets, and denies that he ever intended to blast his ex.
"Sad that the media created negativity for a young artist new to the game that is working so hard to make it. Never mentioned any names," he wrote, according to E! News. "I speak truth. I'm a very Real dude and everything I say I mean…But never called anyone specific a whore and said any names. You all did."
Not only is that a half-hearted denial ("I never called anyone specific a whore"?), it's not entirely true. Here's what happened, according to the gossip sites that were tracking Kardashian and Ora's Twitter feeds: On Monday, the reality star tweeted, "'How can a woman who is so busy trying to start her own career have time to be with so many dudes while in a relationship?!' She cheated on me with nearly 20 dudes while we were together, I wonder how many she will sleep with now that we apart? But I mean 20?!!!"
"When a woman cheats on you with one man, I can live with that," he added a few hours later. "People make mistakes, trust me. I have forgiven numerous times. But when a woman disrespects herself by messing with more than 20 men all while being in a relationship with a faithful man . . . "
"I just don't get how a woman can do that to her body," Kardashian continued. "And your career hasn't even launched yet. I don't put up with sloppiness. LOYALTY. This is a lesson to all the young women out there to not have unprotected sex with multiple men, especially while in a relationship."
All pretty explosive stuff. But the most shocking exchange happened when someone with a fake Rita Ora Twitter account tried to egg Rob on. According to the Daily Mail, someone posing as Ora sent out a tweet that read, "Rob's d**k was wack, I had to go get it somewhere else." Apparently thinking that the tweet was actually from his ex, Kardashian responded, "So you let me get you pregnant and you let others hit raw?" Whoa.
So yes, it looks like Rob identified Rita as the alleged cheating girlfriend (even if he was tricked into doing it). And he obviously feels a little bad about it -- but not bad enough to clear Ora's name.
(Twitter makes fighting so complicated. Remember when couples had to argue over the phone? By talking into it?)
Rob, 25, and Rita, 22, dated for several months earlier this year. In a recent interview with Glamour UK, the singer confirmed that she and Kardashian had split. "I'm not going out with Rob. We were close for a while, but it didn't work because I was never there. I was like a ghost," she told the magazine. "I used to get so frustrated with myself and then wonder why I was angry, so I decided it was best to keep it friendly -- especially at the moment, when there's so much going on."
