Shall we call them "RobKat?" Longtime friends Robert Pattinson and Katy Perry have been spending lots of time together lately, sparking rumors of romantic "fireworks." Because heaven forbid that attractive celebrities have platonic friendships! Honestly, though, we're kind of into the idea of these two being a couple. So let's take a look at what people are saying.
The Rob-and-Katy whispers actually started before he and Kristen Stewart announced their break-up. On April 30, Pattinson attended a Daughter concert with Perry and some friends in New York City, while Stewart stayed in Los Angeles. After the split became public knowledge, Life & Style reported that Katy told him to dump Kristen.
"Katy told Rob she didn't think their relationship could withstand the cheating scandal. And he deserved better than someone who would destroy a family [like Rupert's]," claimed the gossip magazine's source.
With all eyes on them, Katy and Rob made the curious decision to crash a wedding rehearsal at the San Ysidro Ranch in California, not far from Perry's home town.
"Katy and Rob were just sitting next to each other watching the wedding rehearsal in the main courtyard area," a friend of the bride told People. "They were dressed very casually. She was wearing a hoodie and big sunglasses. There was no PDA between them and no body language that showed they were dating. They just sat together and watched."
Now, E! News is reporting that "nothing is going on" between the singer and actor.
"They are just super good friends. There is nothing romantic in it," a source told the website. "Rob and Katy are just very similar people and she adores him, as a friend, and she just wants to be there for him as a mate."
Got that? She adores him as a friend. She just wants to be there for him as a mate. She's just making out with him as a pal.
Okay, fine, we made up that last one. But are we the only people rooting for these two? Katy just seems like someone who knows how to have fun with her celebrity, and Rob has never had fun with his. Plus he's so much more of a gentleman than her sketchy ex John Mayer. We just want to see Rob and Katy holding hands on the red carpet, wearing formalwear made of diamonds and candy corns. Is that too much to ask?
