Bring on the screaming girls! It's been confirmed that Twilight star Robert Pattinson will grace us with his presence at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards tonight. But, unfortunately, he will not be sharing the stage with his estranged love Kristen Stewart.
The British heartthrob will appear along with costar Taylor Lautner and other members of the cast to introduce an exclusive 90-second clip from Breaking Dawn: Part 2.
Pattinson, 26, has remained in the headlines since news broke of then-girlfriend Stewart's affair with director Rupert Sanders at the end of July. Since the public cheating scandal, Pattinson and Stewart have each kept a low profile, but Pattinson did emerge from self-imposed seclusion to promote his drama Cosmopolis.
Now Pattinson is meeting his Twilight publicity obligations. At least he won't have to appear with or near Stewart at the VMAs, because his onscreen Mrs. will be in attendance at the Toronto International Film Festival supporting her upcoming drama On the Road.
Stewart is expected to make her first post-scandal appearance on Thursday at the annual festival, which is featuring a special presentation of the literary film, which also stars Sam Riley, Garrett Hedlund and Viggo Mortensen.
The MTV Video Music Awards air at 8 p.m. ET tonight on MTV.
