Apparently Robert Pattinson knows how to sweep even dogs off their feet! The Twilight hunk says that his new pet -- which he adopted from a shelter in Baton Rouge, La., -- has enjoyed a "ridiculous" lifestyle of luxury so far.
While promoting Breaking Dawn - Part 1 on Live! With Regis and Kelly on Thursday, Pattinson, 25, discussed how during the movie shoot in Louisiana he decided to rescue a dog just one day before he was going to be put down.
"He was in one of those shelters where they don't keep them around for very long," Pattinson told hosts Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa. "He was on his sixth of seven days."
Immediately after being adopted, the puppy (which Pattinson named Bear) had to adjust to life of a celebrity pet.
"Just by coincidence – this doesn't happen in my life very often – but I ended up being on a private jet like three days later," he continued. "It was kind of ridiculous. Literally three days after that, we were going to L.A. and he had his own seat [on the plane]."
"This dog is like 'OK really?'" Ripa joked. "This dog keeps pinching himself!"
Since that first trip on a private jet, Bear has quickly adapted to his internationally recognized owner's globe-trotting lifestyle.
"I've smuggled him over borders many times," he admitted.
"You shouldn't say that on the air!" Ripa replied. "He's lying, he's been drinking," she told the audience. What a lucky pup indeed!
