Robert Pattinson Disses 'Twilight' Fans -- Or Was It All Lost in Translation?

In the German edition of Interview magazine, the actor reportedly had some unkind words about Twihards

When your hugely popular film franchise comes to an end, how long should you wait to start insulting its fans? For Robert Pattinson, that waiting period appears to be nine months. In an interview with German Interview magazine, the actor had some not-so-nice things to say about the Twihards who love him.

"What's really weird about Twilight fans is that they're not really teenagers. Most of them are older. Twilight has its own fan culture that existed from day one. And in an intense way that didn't exist before," Pattinson, 27, told Interview. "Sometimes I ask myself what these masses of people do the whole day. They sit in front of their computers and comment on anything having even remotely to do with Twilight."

Sheesh, Rob, haven't you ever had a hobby? If someone enjoys being a Twilight fan (or a Red Sox fan, or a gourmet cooking fan), that doesn't make them a crazy stalker with no life. Also, Mr. Pattinson, those unwashed "masses of people" are the reason you're famous -- a mixed bag, we understand, but aren't you grateful that you can pay your bills doing the thing you love?

Maybe he didn't think the article would be translated from German. Though that brings us to another point: We're unclear on how many translations these quotes have gone through. It's possible they were translated from English to German by the magazine, then back to English by the American media -- meaning, Pattinson's quote may not be as bad as it sounds.

One thing came through loud and clear, though, despite the language barrier: He hates the nickname RPattz.

"I'd like to strangle the guy who came up with it!" he told the magazine, calling the name coiner "some fat celebrity blogger."

If only Rob could walk a day in our (not-so-fat, thankyouverymuch) celebrity blogger shoes! Then he'd know that typing his name over and over and over again is less fun than typing his reviled nickname. Which we still like, by the way.

For the final word on RPattz's (ha!) interview, we'll turn to Google Translate, which translated the German Interview article descriptions into English for us. Here's what it says about Pattinson: "He has been the elephant water, fought werewolves and become immortal vampire. But only when the tabloid pack for months dissecting Robert Pattinson's relationship with Kristen Stewart, a real man was from the teen heartthrob It was certainly not an easy time for Robert Pattinson. Was more enjoyable then our meeting with the actual shy Englishman."

We bet it was!
