Team Edward certainly showed their fangs on Twitter this week, targeting actress Emma Roberts. Roberts, 19, was the guest who followed Twilight hunk Robert Pattinson on The Tonight Show on Tuesday night, and she made a surprising confession when host Jay Leno asked her whether she was on Pattinson's "Team Edward" or Taylor Lautner's "Team Jacob."
With Pattinson, 24, seated right beside her, Roberts admitted, "I'm going to have to say Team Jacob." She quickly turned to Pattinson and said, "Your hair looks wonderful in person, but I have to stick with Team Jacob, I'm sorry." Pattinson then playfully joked back, "You just revealed yourself to have absolutely no taste!"
After the broadcast, Roberts tweeted, "Rob Pattinson is so nice! I was slightly disappointed his skin wasn't glittering & the song ‘Wild Thing' didn't start when he shook my hand."
However, it seems that friendly online gesture wasn't enough to appease the Team Edward faithful -- Roberts has since deleted her Twitter account!
While some feel bad for the whole incident (one tweeter wrote, "So sorry @robertsemma. Not all Team Edward fans are like that!!!!"), others are sticking to their guns, as another tweeted, "if you came on leno & had a beef with #robertpattinson then you deserve what u r getting but if not I feel bad 4 you."
But, Roberts isn't the only one to feel the wrath of online tween fans. Last month Kim Kardashian claimed she received death threats from Justin Bieber fans after the 16-year-old pop sensation posted a photo of the two with a caption that jokingly read, "Look its my girlfriend."
Bieber quickly dampened the ensuing hysteria by tweeting "Ladies calm down" as a follow up, adding, "@kimkardashian is a friend. a very sexy friend but a friend. no need 4 threats. Let's all be friends and hang out often ;)" Pattinson, in the meantime, does not have a Twitter account.
