A year ago, Robert Pattinson could walk down the street without being mobbed by screaming female fans. Before he became Edward Cullen -- Twilight's most swoon-worthy vampire -- he was just another cute, relatively unknown actor. Now, with the anticipation of the series' second film New Moon, he can barely step outside without setting off a tabloid frenzy about his juicy love life (including being linked to costar Kristen Stewart) and bad-boy antics.
"It's strange being a target," The 23-year-old British actor tells iVillage of his sudden fame. "Stick the word Twilight on anything and people will just lap it up."
But the biggest thing Pattinson and his vampire character have in common is, surprisingly, their "lack of confidence." But that's not the only quality they share. Given the darker themes of New Moon, Edward does even more of his signature "brooding" this time around -- and the actor who plays him can relate. "There's so many mentions of brooding," he says. "I don't even know really what brooding is anymore. It seems to just be associated with pouting, so I guess I do pout quite a lot.
