If Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson had a baby girl, what would she look like? (Besides "gorgeous," obviously.) That's the question that Twilight producers had to answer when casting Renesmee, the ethereal half-vampire child who appears in Breaking Dawn - Part 2. Now, for the first time, we get to see the couple with their cinematic offspring, played by Mackenzie Foy. We think the resemblance to both "parents" is pretty strong -- and Kristen agrees!
"Even our hands look similar," Stewart tells Entertainment Weekly in the new cover story. "It was kind of strange, but it's funny how it actually helps. It's like, 'Oh hey, you look like me, kid! Come on!'"
According to director Bill Condon, Stewart and Pattinson were "amazing" with the 11-year-old actress, who beat out thousands of young girls for the part of Renesmee.
"It really brought something paternal out in Rob, and Kristen was especially protective," says Condon. "I'd have to interrupt them when they were in deep conversation to get going with a scene."
In new Breaking Dawn photos shared by EW, we get to see Stewart's maternal side. In one shot, Vampire Bella (you know she's a vampire 'cause she's wearing a leather jacket) leans protectively over her daughter in a tent; in another, Renesmee communicates with Bella by gently touching her face. (In case you weren't aware, Renesmee is psychic. She also grows mentally and physically at a freakish rate, which is why she appears to be a 10-year-old, even though Bella was pregnant with her in the previous film.)
There's also a picture of Renesmee bonding with Jacob (Taylor Lautner), which we find just the tiniest bit creepy. Though no creepier, really, than little Kirsten Dunst hitting on Brad Pitt back in the '90s in Interview With The Vampire. Vampire movies -- what are you gonna do?
As for Foy, whom director Condon describes as the "obvious" choice for Renesmee, she seems to be enjoying the whole Twilight experience. When asked what she thought about Rob and Kristen, Mackenzie told EW that they "are super-nice."
