He's famously secretive about who he's dating, but Robert Pattison has no problem talking about having sex -- in movies, anyway. In a new interview with the Sunday Times of London, the Twilight heartbreaker talked candidly about love scenes with both male and female costars: in particular, Javier Beltran and Emilie de Ravin.
While playing artist Salvador Dali in 2009's Little Ashes, Pattinson, 23, was required to get intimate on camera with Beltran, 26. "We were both straight, but he was Spanish, so much more confident about being naked and stuff, although when it comes down to it, it's just as awkward with a girl, especially if you are straight and with a girl you don't like... Anyway, Javier was really cool. After we had been pretending to have sex on this balcony in Barcelona, he was like, 'We have such a strange job...'"
The love scenes in Pattinson's latest film, the indie drama Remember Me, presented a different sort of challenge. Pattinson recalls that his 28-year-old costar -- Lost's de Ravin -- was "very, very, very comfortable -- I'm always the one who's most uncomfortable." Making a joke of the actor's discomfort, the director had handcuffs and porn videos waiting on the set -- "It was so funny!" Pattinson recalls. And then he flashed the crew. No, really. The actor says he had to wear "a little patch" on his privates, but he "didn't really tape it up properly... and then literally it falls off within one second and it's taped to the sheet. And you realize the whole crew are looking directly at your butt crack." The moral of the story? "It gives you a lot of respect for porn stars," Pattinson added.
Certainly all this sex talk makes us speculate about the upcoming passion that will be depicted in the Twilight sequel Breaking Dawn. Is onscreen sex more or less awkward if you've already had off-screen sex? Not that we know what Pattinson and Kristen Stewart do in their spare time or anything -- just thinking out loud...
