Even handsome actors who play sparkly vampires are occasionally insecure about their looks. Robert Pattinson admits that having Taylor Lautner (and his rock-hard abs) as a costar hasn't been easy for his body image.
Apparently the 25-year-old Twilight star felt so insecure being compared to 19-year-old Lautner (who's known to work out more than two hours a day to sculpt his shirtless-scene-ready six-pack) that he decided to try an intense fitness regime leading up to The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn: Part 1 (which hits theaters Nov. 18).
"You also have to worry about how you're going to look," Pattinson told Mexican entertainment magazine 15a20. "I had never been so worried about that before, but after seeing how much Taylor works out for the movies, I thought, 'Well, everybody is really going to judge me now.' I always tried to think about positions where I could tense the muscles and suck in my belly."
According to the New York Post, Pattinson was particularly concerned with the way his body would look during his much-anticipated love scene with his on-and-off-screen girlfriend Kristen Stewart, whose character becomes his wife early in the film's penultimate installment.
"The body of the characters seem to be a big deal," he said. "So in this movie, I thought, 'OK, it's the last one, I'm getting a six pack,' and I tried, but it's very hard. I worked out so hard for six months, so after filming the sex scene, the first thing I thought was, 'Time to eat!'"
We can't wait to see how all that hard work paid off!
