'Rocco's Dinner Party' Adds Entertaining Twist to Food TV

On Bravo's latest food show, cooks compete to throw the best dinner party for Rocco DiSpirito and his famous friends

Rocco DiSpirito began his television career as the celebrity chef behind The Restaurant, the memorable 2004 reality program that documented the drama-filled opening and day-to-day dealings of his New York restaurant. Since then, DiSpirito has been channel-hopping, making the rounds through shows including Top Chef, The Biggest Loser, Dancing with the Stars and countless commercials for Bertolli olive oil and frozen foods.

DiSpirito's newest home is Bravo, where he'll be hosting Rocco's Dinner Party premiering June 15 at 11 p.m. ET.  In this competition-style show, three cooks (both professional and non-professional) must wow DiSpirito with a signature dish, then throw a themed dinner party for him and a rotating cast of celebrity guests, including Liza Minnelli, Sandra Bernhard and Padma Lakshmi

Not only do the contestants have to get multiple courses of food out on time, they also have to design the dining area and create a welcoming ambiance for the guests. (Celebrity party planner Jes Gordon is on hand to help out with decor.) Each week, the winner is awarded a $20,000 prize.

We all know how nerve-wracking throwing a dinner party can be so we're definitely keen to see how the contestants on Rocco's Dinner Party fare. Add a cast of celebrity guest judges, a little decorating and a none-too-easy to please chef-host, and this could be a fun change of pace from the typical television food competitions out there.
