Some of Hollywood's biggest starlets have been strumming up romances with the music industry's hottest rockers. Check out our picks for today's hottest collaborators.
Drew Barrymore & Fabrizio Moretti
Collaborating Since: April 2002
Their Long and Winding Road: After catching a Strokes concert in California, two-time divorcee Drew stuck around after the show to meet the band, and she hit it off with the Brazilian-born and New York-bred drummer Fabrizio. Soon after, Drew and the five-year-younger Fab were spotted canoodling on both coasts. In January 2003, a gossip columnist reported that former wild child Drew would be taking the marital plunge for the third time at George Clooney's Italian villa (she was starring in Clooney's flick Confessions of a Dangerous Mind at the time) and caused a media frenzy. Drew denied the rumors and the report proved false. Although Drew has a sprawling manse in the Hollywood Hills, she's been spending more time on the East Coast at Fabrizio's new $675,000 condo in downtown Manhattan, where neighbors have spied the lovebirds smooching and smoking cigarettes on the roof deck.
For the Record: After two blink-and-you-missed-'em marriages -- one to bartender Jeremy Thomas (1994), one to comedian Tom Green (2001) -- Drew has said that she's not rushing to the altar anytime soon. But the P.D.A-lovin' duo is still going hot and heavy and probably making out at a city near you.
One-Hit Wonders or Relationship Hall of Famers? With her track record, Drew is setting herself up to be the Elizabeth Taylor of her generation. But there are worse things than being compared to Liz Taylor, right? On a positive note, at least Drew's taste in men is looking up: We never did see the appeal of gross-out guru Tom Green.
Carmen Electra & Dave Navarro
Collaborating Since: 2001
Their Long and Winding Road: When the former Baywatch babe and Jane's Addition guitarist met on a blind date, they both knew it was meant to be. "The moment she walked into the restaurant, I thought, I'm a dead man," Navarro has said of the encounter. A few months later, they were engaged. The couple took their time getting to the altar, but after a wild bachelor/bachelorette party (the invite was a photo of the couple in the buff) they finally married at the St. Regis Hotel in L.A., in November 2003. In her vows, Carmen poked fun at her makeup- and nail-polish-wearing groom saying, "I never thought I'd marry a man who looks in the mirror more than I do." Cashing in on the reality craze, the couple's wedding festivities were captured for an MTV series that will air in January called 'Til Death Do Us Part: Carmen & Dave.
For the Record: This isn't the first trip to the altar for either of the Navarros. Carmen's first marriage (to eccentric hoopster Dennis Rodman) made headlines when he asked for an annulment nine days after they eloped in Las Vegas. The couple divorced five months later. Dave, who previously played with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, was married in a pagan "hand-fastening" ceremony (the palms of the bride and groom are cut open and placed together so their blood becomes one), which was not recognized legally. He also married in 1994, but divorced a year later. Still in the honeymoon phase, this couple is still growing strong -- at least until they cash the check for their MTV series.
One-Hit Wonders or Relationship Hall of Famers? As long as Dave doesn't use Carmen's eyeliner, and she doesn't borrow his nail polish, this couple's marriage will probably stay Red Hot.
Pamela Anderson & Tommy Lee
Collaborating Since: February 1995
Their Long and Winding Road: After meeting the Playboy Playmate who was then starring in Baywatch, the smitten Motley Crew drummer trailed her to Cancun, Mexico, where, after a five-day courtship, he persuaded her to marry him. Sporting bathing suits (hers: a white bikini, of course), they said, "I do" in a beachside ceremony, and capped it off with wedding ring tattoos. "It was an instant, mind-blowing animal attraction," Tommy has said of their meeting. The ballad of Tommy and Pam has never been dull, though the highlights (three wedding ceremonies and the births of their two sons, Brandon and Dylan) were outweighed by lowlights (numerous separations, the unauthorized release of their sex tape, spousal abuse charges, a bitter divorce and a vicious custody battle). Despite Tommy serving time in prison for kicking Pam in 1998 and her public accusation in 2002 that he gave her hepatitis C, there is something that keeps bringing this twosome back together. "It's not all roses, but it's beautiful to have our family back together," Pam said when they reunited in 1999.
For the Record: Although still divorced, Tommy, who was previously married to Heather Locklear, and Pamela have been seen out and about a lot lately -- everywhere from their sons' soccer games to the premiere of Scary Movie 3, in which Pam appeared. But that doesn't mean anything in Pam and Tommy's world: Pam has also been spending time with her on-again off-again fiance Kid Rock; Tommy, who broke off and engagement to Prince's ex, Mayte Garcia, in 2003, has been seen locking lips with musician Pink.
One-Hit Wonders or Relationship Hall of Famers? Nearly a decade after this union began, the flame flickering between this couple just won't burn out. Our prediction: Like Tommy's album titles, more Methods of Mayhem and Never a Dull Moment.
Heather Locklear & Richie Sambora
Collaborating Since: 1994
Their Long and Winding Road: When the Bon Jovi guitarist first met the blonde bombshell, she was still married to Motley Crew's Tommy Lee. After her split, she reportedly asked a friend to set her up with Richie. After making a few calls and getting no response, Heather went to the hotel where Bon Jovi was staying during a tour and worked her own magic. The couple tied the knot in 1994, and their daughter, Ava, was born in 1997. Despite being a high-profile couple, Heather and Richie keep many of the details of their marriage to themselves. However, the former Melrose Place vixen has said her hubby writes her love letters, serenades her to sleep and sends her flowers all the time. All together: Ahh!
For the Record: Ten months after their first date, Heather and Richie married in a civil ceremony in New Jersey, where Richie is from, and then they flew to Paris for a more elaborate ceremony. After a spell living on the East Coast when Heather starred in Spin City, they are back on in L.A., where Heather will star in a new series on NBC in Fall 2004.
One-Hit Wonders or Relationship Hall of Famers? Of marriage, Heather has said, "You have to have a bad one to appreciate a good one." Sounds like hall-of-fame material to us.
Kate Hudson & Chris Robinson
Collaborating Since: May 2000
Their Long and Winding Road: Just days after the Hollywood ingenue met the divorced front man of the Black Crowes at a party in Manhattan, she moved into his apartment. They've been together ever since. "We instantly fell in love without really knowing each other," Kate said at the time. As Kate pursued her acting career with films Almost Famous (for which she received an Oscar nomination), Le Divorce and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Chris embarked on a solo career, leaving the band he created with his brother, Rich. But the couple have always supported each other: Kate went on tour with Chris, living on his tour bus; Chris wrote a song for her on his solo album called "Katie Dear."
For the Record: After a seven-month courtship, Kate and Chris wed on a ranch belonging to her mom, Goldie Hawn, and stepfather, Kurt Russell, in Aspen, Colorado. Then she took a year off to "be a wife." They have a joint production in the works: Their first child is due in early 2004.
One-Hit Wonders or Relationship Hall of Famers? Despite their age difference (she's 12 years his junior), the unlikely twosome seem to be kindred spirits, and that's nothing to Crowe at.
Cameron Diaz & Justin Timberlake
Collaborating Since: June 2003
Their Long and Winding Road: After having his heart broken by Britney, Justin landed on his feet when he started dating Charlie's Angels babe Cameron. The twosome, who had previously met at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards (she presented him with the Burp Award, which she herself won in 2001), hit it off and started making the scene at clubs, movie theaters and bowling alleys on both coasts. In September, their Hawaii vacation made headlines, especially when Cameron broke her nose surfing. When Justin went on tour, Cameron was his "band-aid," accompanying him to many of his stops. They have recently been spotted making out on the JumboTron at a Lakers game -- a Hollywood indication that things are pretty serious.
For the Record: Cameron is the queen of long relationships -- she was engaged to Matt Dillon and dated another rocker, Jared Leto, for four years -- but that doesn't necessarily mean she's ready to settle down with the former boy-bander. Nonetheless, gossip columns are still filling up with Cameron and Justin sightings, and they appear to be still rockin'.
One-Hit Wonders or Relationship Hall of Famers? For now, they're *NSYNC, but pretty soon we suspect it will be bye-bye-bye.
