The Romantics

Based on the novel by Galt Niederhoffer, The Romantics follows seven college friends as they reunite for the seaside wedding of pals, Lila (Anna Paquin) and Tom (Josh Duhamel). Laura (Katie Holmes), maid of honor and best friend to the bride, spent years rivaling for the heart of the groom. When a drunken night of frolicking leads to questionable antics, friendships are put to the test and relationships are forever changed.

What They're Saying:
"The Romantics gets much of the female chitchat right, from catty asides to sisterly chase-fights in bare feet." - Time Out New York

"One of the best qualities of The Romantics is that it's a movie about the emotions and friendships of women." - Metromix

I'm Still Here

I'm Still Here offers a comical portrait into the life of Joaquin Phoenix as he makes the transition from actor to aspiring rapper.

What They're Saying:
"If the movie is a fake, the filmmakers deserve Oscars for creativity." - Miami Herald

"The movie understands that his Last Honest Man in Showbiz routine is really a performance -- even if it's one the actor himself is only dimly aware of." - Entertainment Weekly

When's the last time your kids watched a documentary? Exactly.

In case you missed...

The American
Short Story:
When a job in Sweden comes to a bitter end, Jack (George Clooney), a skilled American assassin retreats to a small Italian village, away from death and havoc. While there, he undertakes an assignment constructing a weapon for a mysterious contact, befriends a local priest, and begins a fateful romance with the beautiful Clara (Violante Placido) -- all of which could prove fatal for the veiled assassin.

What They're Saying:
"The American is never less than gorgeous. And the oblique approach it takes to what is a fairly standard plot creates a mood of suspense quickened by the accelerated heartbeat of Herbert Grönemeyer’s unobtrusive music." - The New York Times

"I enjoyed the film for its surfaces most of the way. Its pictorial assurance is undeniable. So is its destiny as an audience-divider." - Chicago Tribune

Good For Kids?
With a plot so thick, the kids are bound to get lost in it.

What They're Saying:
"Robert Rodriguez returns to the grindhouse with this entertainingly over-the-top, ultraviolent exploitationer." - The Hollywood Reporter

"Robert Rodriguez loves exploitation cinema but his homages to the disreputable genre are defined by italicized self-consciousness that leaves his humor without any room to breathe." - Slant Magazine

Good For Kids?
Leave this grindhouse flick out of your child's reach.

Going the Distance
Short Story:
Neither Erin (Drew Barrymore) nor Garrett (Justin Long) expected their fly-by-night romance to last through the summer.  But when Erin heads home to San Fransisco and Garrett stays in New York, neither is sure they want it to end. Through the phone calls, sexting, and meddling friends, Erin and Garrett attempt to see if their budding love can actually go the distance.

What They're Saying:
"A bi-coastal comedy with a bit of a bipolar disorder." - Variety

"It’s formulaic and loses its mushy/silly momentum at about the one hour mark. But the truths — funny and otherwise — about long distance relationships allow documentary maker Nanette Burstein’s first fiction feature to do that one thing that a romance absolutely has to do — touch us." - Orlando Sentinel

Good For Kids?
The love scenes in Going the Distance might make you swoon, but the kids will go "yuck" -- cover their eyes for this one.

"A smart horror film will fatten its pigs before the slaughter, and the mock doc The Last Exorcism feeds its prize hog nicely." - Time Out New York

Good For Kids?
This chilling horror flick is sure to give any kid a bad case of the shakes.
