Is the way to a voter's heart through the stomach? Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul apparently thinks so with the recent release of the 2012 Ron Paul Family Cookbook. This collection of 28 recipes from his family and friends is hardly just a guide to making hearty Paul-approved fare, it's also an approachable piece of campaign literature, educating folks about his platform while helping them get dinner on the table.
The 2012 Ron Paul Cookbook also includes a note from Paul's wife, Carol entitled 'The American Dream' where she recounts the story of the Paul family alongside family photos and homey recipes for Oreo Cake and Orange Juice Pudding Cake.
The book, which sells for $8, is available through Paul's site, where it is described as "one of the best campaign handouts you'll find."
Regardless of political affiliation, we're hoping that this cookbook-as-campaign-literature idea catches on. We'd love to see recipes that President Obama grew up with in Hawaii, Newt Gingrich's Georgia favorites and Michele Bachmann's Minnesotan meals.
