30 Days of HoliDIY: Rose Gold Polka Dot Pouch

Give the gift of organization with this handy DIY Pouch from SwellMayde

My favorite type of gift is handmade from the heart. If you were to look in my handbag at any moment, I always have a few small pouches that help keep me organized. I created this DIY pouch because it's something everyone can use and it's so easy to make. I added a fun little holiday touch with rose gold polka dots.

What you’ll need:

Leather or faux leather
Rose gold or copper spray paint
Screw-on button stud
Mini pouch template (download it here)
Ruler
Awl
Scissors
Utility knife or X-Acto knife

5/8-in.-circle hole puncher
Scotch tape
8½-in x 11-in. sticker paper

Step 1:

Print out the mini pouch template on an 8½-in. by 11-in. sheet of paper. Cut it out and tape it onto your leather.

Step 2:

Cut the leather around your taped template.

Step 3:

Using the awl, poke a hole through the leather at each of the mini circles on the template.

Step 4:

Employ the utility or X-Acto knife to cut a small slit, as shown in the photo (indicated by a small dash on the template).

Step 5:

Measure and cut 1¼-in. strips from the sticker paper.

Step 6:

Punch circles using the circle hole puncher about 1¼-in. apart from each other.

Step 7:

Stick the sticker circle strips (sticky side down) onto your leather, creating a staggered polka dot pattern. Feel free to cut the strips lengthwise to fit the leather. Make sure the sticker polka dots are firmly placed without any bubbles or leather peeking through between the strips. Only the circles should expose any leather.

Step 8:

In a well-ventilated area, evenly spray paint on the polka dots.

Step 9:

Let fully dry. Then, remove the sticker paper to reveal the dots.

Step 10:

Align all the poked holes. Add the bottom of the button stud through all of them, and then screw on the top. This is your closure for the mini pouch.

You're done!
