After suffering a heart attack last week, Rosie O'Donnell is feeling lucky to be alive.
O'Donnell, 50, described her health scare in a blog entry on Aug. 20. "I am happy to be alive/last week i had a heart attack/here is what happened," she wrote in verse form.
She continued, saying that she saw "an enormous woman struggling to get out of her car" last Tuesday in a parking lot. The woman asked for her assistance, so O'Donnell helped pull her out of the car. Later that day, she felt pain and wondered if she might be having a heart attack. But instead of calling 911, O'Donnell dismissed her symptoms. However, she did remember seeing a commercial that recommended taking Bayer aspirin for heart attack symptoms.
"I took some bayer aspirin/thank god/saved by a tv commercial/literally," she wrote.
The next day, O'Donnell went to see a cardiologist and was told that she had indeed suffered a heart attack. She is now recovering at home -- and she's learned a valuable lesson.
"I am lucky to be here/know the symptoms ladies/listen to the voice inside/the one we all so easily ignore/CALL 911/save urself."
