Ryan Gosling is a man of many talents. Sometimes we just need a moment to be reminded that the same heartthrob who promised Rachel McAdams that "if you're a bird, I'm a bird" in The Notebook and terrifyingly stomped a man's face in with his boot in Drive also used to be a member of The New Mickey Mouse Club.
So let's take a quick journey back to 1991, when an 11-year-old Gosling took to a Mormon talent show wearing MC Hammer pants to show the world that he is a sing-and-dancing force to be reckoned with. And oh, how he is -- belting out an emotional rendition of "When a Man Loves a Woman" and then somehow segueing into a choreographed dance performance (with his very talented sister Mandi) set to the C+C Music Factory classic "Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)." Watch the video below!
A woman named Rossana Odar recently uploaded the old video to YouTube -- and it makes a strong case for why parents should record more than just their own children's embarrassing stage performances. Who knows what future talents you may have just filmed on your camcorder (or iPhone or whatever)?
In addition to highlighting the now-31-year-old actor's considerable singing and boy-band-dancing skills, the video also proves that Gosling's face has barely changed over the past 20 years. And that part at the end where his sister jumps into his arms shows that the Dirty Dancing lift skills he flaunted in last summer's Crazy, Stupid, Love. were a part of his repertoire at a very early age.
We just have one question: How long until a movie calls for Gosling to say, "Hey girl, bet you didn't know I could bust a move like Hammer," before, well, busting a move like Hammer? Okay, so that'll never happen -- but, hey, at least we've got this video.
