Stylish Sandra Oh has proven herself on the red carpet and in front of the camera. The star won a Golden Globe for her performance in the television drama series, Grey's Anatomy. But we love her spirit too. When she accepted her award, she said "to all my fellow Asian-American actors out there, I share this with you, and be encouraged and keep shining." Here, the radiant Oh personifies shine in sheer, natural hues punctuated by a hint of glossy platinum near her eyes. Makeup artist Deborah Grayson tells us how to get her look.
Step 1: Apply a light, oil-free hydrating lotion to your entire face; use a product containing SPF 15 if you're prepping for a daytime event.
Step 2: Fill in the inner rim of your bottom lash line with a black eyeliner pencil.
Step 3: Swish a pointed liner brush in matte-black eye shadow back and forth. It's important to immerse the brush in the shadow as a preparation for the next step so you'll get an even application. Shake the brush afterward so there are no fly-away specs.
Step 4: Starting directly at the center of your lower lash line, hold the pointed liner you prepped in Step 3 flat on its side and drag it from the center to the outer edge of your eye. This will create the thin, elongated trail of shadow that Sandra's wearing.
Step 5: Apply a strip of delicate, evenly spaced black false lashes. To prevent the lashes from becoming dislodged, allow them to set before the next step.
Step 6: With a liquid eyeliner, draw a fine line across your upper lash line, directly over the band where the false lashes are attached.
Step 7: Using your fingertip, apply a glossy, translucent silver cream shadow to your entire eyelid.
Step 8: To bring out your eyebrows, use a sharp brow pencil to make feathery, faint strokes in the same direction your brow hairs grow, making sure to match the color of the hairs as well. You don't want to darken your eyebrows, rather you want to subtly define their shape '- an important distinction.
Step 9: Using a contoured brush with a small head, apply neutral-colored blot powder to target any overly shiny spots, such as your nose or high on your forehead. Keep in mind, however, that the key to this look is the glossy shine, so you want to single out just specific areas '- not cover your entire face in powder.
Step 10: Lightly trace the border of your lips with a pencil liner that matches your skin tone. Then fill in your lips with a clear, high-shine lip gloss.
