Sarah Hyland Gets Birthday Tequila from 'Modern Family' Mom Julie Bowen

Bottoms up! The actress celebrates her 21st birthday in Las Vegas -- and receives an age-appropriate gift for her TV mom

Modern Family actress Sarah Hyland celebrated her 21st birthday with a special "adults only" present from her onscreen mother Julie Bowen: a bottle of tequila!

The oldest of Bowen and Ty Burrell's fictional children, Hyland became a legal adult on Thanksgiving but enjoyed another birthday bash on Dec. 10 at Bank Nightclub in Las Vegas.

"[This year, I was] like, 'let's not celebrate my birthday on Thanksgiving, 'cause Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. Let's eat Thanksgiving food and sleep in [on that day].' Now I'm actually celebrating my birthday the right way," Hyland told Us Weekly at the VIP fete, where she was joined by her boyfriend, actor Matt Prokop.

Among Hyland's many presents was one that was of particular importance -- a bottle of Peligroso Tequila from her Emmy-winning "mom" on the hit ABC sitcom. The cast and crew had already thrown Hyland a party on set, but 41-year-old Bowen welcomed Hyland to adulthood with the taste of legal liquor.

"Even if I'm not planning on drinking for the night and my friends are going out, I don't have to worry and be like 'well I can't go there,'" says Hyland. Cheers to that!
